My Team Of The Season So Far

Posted on December 28th, 2007 in Fantasy football, Football, Premiership by The Mac

Right, we’re about halfway through the season and we all think we know better so here’s my Premiership team of the season so far.

Keeper - Reina

Difficult one, I thought - there’s been some outstanding keepers but some howlers made by those you wouldn’t expect. Reina has been the most consistent in my opinion.

Defence - Bacary Sagna, William Gallas, Nemanja Vidic, Joleon Lescott

Sagna has been the find of the season I reckon. Gallas was pretty average last season but making him captain of the Arsenal team and his new-found ability to stay fit has upped his performances. Vidic doesn’t get the plaudits that Ferdinand does, but doesn’t make the same expensive mistakes of his partner. Lescott has been outstanding, weighing in with the odd goal (as has Gallas) to boot.

Midfield - Ronaldo, Gareth Barry, Cesc Fabregas, Elano

Despite the fact that Ronaldo goes down quicker than a cheap tart, his talent is undoubted; he’ll probably get Player Of The Year again. Barry has been solid, reliable and the captain of an improving Villa side. Fabregas has been Arsenal’s best player this season and will only get better; his form has dipped a little recently though it must be said. Elano has been excellent this season in an almost brand new City side.

Strikers - Carlos Tevez, Fernando Torres

Once the dust settled after the protracted transfer/loan/personal contract hire plan or whatever he’s on, Tevez has formed a good partnership with Rooney and United are my bet to win the Prem this season. Torres has whacked in a fair few goals now, beginning to repay his significant transfer fee; a run in the team helps of course, and he’s way better than any of the other options Benitez has.

Subs - Robert Green, Steven Gerrard, Michael Essien, Ryan Giggs, Benjani.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Fancy £10,000?

I know I do.

Just join up with Squadgod.com’s fantasy football game and if you have the highest score at the end of the season then £10,000 is yours.

I’m not much for fantasy football myself, I tend to pick a team then lose interest, but this might keep me going a bit longer. Check it out.

Update: Check the comments for details of a Left Back group, thanks to Kenny. May the best Leftbacker win.
