Champions League draw - should we be suspicious?
From a thread on the Liverpool echo.
Rumour going around draw has been leaked….. this is no doubt rubbish but if Rumour is true it’s LFC - arsenal and Chelsea - fenerbache and manure v roma
No bookies will take bets on the draw either…….
This was posted at 10.28am. The draw for the Champions League took place at 12.10pm.
Lucky guess or something more sinister?

I heard they were going to kick Man U and Roma out of the tournament entirely and give the two spots to two sides from the Doc Martens league.
The bookies are giving 7-1 odds against. Get your bets in on time.

really uncanny.

Its bizarre.
What even funnier is that Roma-Man Utd is a repeat of last years quarter final, and if Arsenal had beaten PSV it’s would’ve been a Liverpool-Arsenal quarter final last season too.

Odd, but it’s honestly hard to read more into it than that. I’m sure there were lots of people guessing at the draw, one of them had to be right.

Why wouldn’t the bookies take bets though? Unless it’s a standard procedure not to do so on the day itself. Need more information to read too far into it.

I’m definitely a proponent of the warm ball theory. UEFA has always been biased towards spanish clubs and its no suprise that the only spanish club get the worst team left in it, with the second leg at home, and that the club with the russian billionaire owner get the second worst team, with the second leg at home, especially when the draw is made by a former russian goalkeeper (who, incidentally, i bet it turns out has recently “fallen on hard times” or “come under suspicion”)

I think the most important thing to remember here is that each member of staff at ManUre, Liverpool, Chelsea and Fifa is a cunt. Luckily this doesn´t apply at all to Arsenal FC, with the exception of Eboue of course.
You can carry on now.

talk to any football journalist, and they all talk of the ”hot balls” procedure in UEFA draws. it’s common knowledge. I am only surprised that all 4 english teams weren’t in the same half of the draw.

DOOOOOH of course it’s fixed you invertebrates. I’m amazed that people always believe the obvious, rational choice. This is FOOTBALL - a business that runs on its own laws and has BILLIONS being gambled on it. You don’t think that they fix it so those in the know can make a few million on bets? Think again!!

who cares that the draw was fixed (which it probably was) as long as the refs don’t accept bungs. May the best team win (eventually). C’mon you gooners

Apologies for the long page name, but it’s a link to another Liverpool Echo article explaining who was behind it.

I’m sorry but I just can’t believe this ‘draw was fixed’ lark. I’ve always been cynical about these things and I’m afraid this is just another foolish conspiracy theory to go with countless others down the years. I can’t see how anyone would benefit from the draw being rigged unless they were able to bet on it but that wasn’t the case so it just doesn’t make sense for me. I think there’s a few too many dreamers out there and there’s no way the draw could have been rigged.
