Boro monster Aliadiere gets a longer ban than Martin Taylor

Posted on February 26th, 2008 in Idiots, The FA, discipline by Left back

It was referenced below but the sending off of Boro’s Jeremie Aliadiere could not have been more different than that of Martin Taylor for his shocking tackle on Arsenal’s Eduardo.

Yes, we all know you can’t ‘raise your hands’, as if the simple act of raising your hands would instantly result in a shattered jaw for the opponent, but three games for what he did was very harsh.

Boro appealed, the appeal was rejected and now Aliadiere has to serve an extra game for making a ‘frivolous appeal’.

So, let’s get this in context: Jeremie Aliadiere will miss 4 games because he ‘raised his hands’, not because of a punch, an elbow or anything that might really hurt a player. Martin Taylor gets 3 games after his brutal challenge put another player out of the game for 9 months.

If I were Boro I’d appeal again and I’d want to know exactly how anybody with a brain in their head can justify Aliadiere spending more time on the sidelines than Martin Taylor. Can anybody, no matter what team they support or what their opinion of Taylor’s challenge, possibly justify that? No, they cannot.

Just more evidence that the disciplinary system is absolutely fucked up. It’s making an absolute mockery of football and unless more is done to punish real violent conduct then there will be more Eduardos.

agreed. It’s really unfortunate that the fa has come to this point: whether or not Taylor’s tackle was malicious, and the smirk after indicates that, he should be banned for more than just 3 games. He may have ruined a man’s career, at the beginning of his prime no less. Taylor is an old head, and making his presence known in such a way with reckless tackles is laughable, you can’t defend the guy. He did what he did, malicious or not, it is his fault that Eduardo’s leg is broken. The word play afterward by McLeish in defending him is beyond excusable, look at where the ball was and where Taylor’s foot was, how high is tackle was, and how his studs were pointed up. Unbelievable, Jeremie Aliadiere basically told Mascherano to bugger off, and he gets carded for that, and on appeal nothing is given to Mascherano for being the first to raise his hand?

Have we ever seen someone get a decreased suspension from an appeal?

Bang on, how can a player get a 4 match ban for nothing worse than a slap, and another get a 3 match ban for breaking a guys leg? its a disgrace, Taylor should get a 9 month ban, seeing as Eduardo will be out for at least 9 months, seams fair to me… the FA are a joke

Football justice keeps providing us joke, a harmless action got 4 games ban. A nice gentle guy can tackle all the way up to the shin, no problem FA.

I think the greatest joke is that now Taylor is a victim, according to what his teammate Kelly said, he shouldn’t be sent off. Kelly also labelled Wenger a disgrace, Lasson, another teammate, said Wenger is an idiot, and shameful, for what he commended after the match.

Well done Birmingham, don’t get any loan or buy players from Arsenal, since they are idiot. You will be relegated, and forever a failure club.

This is messed up . Remember Rio Ferdinand got around 9 months for missing a drug test and Adrian Mutu got nearly the same time for testing positive.

[...] More proof the disciplinary system is a joke. Jeremie Aliadiere will serve a longer ban for lightly, almost sensually, brushing his fingers against Javier Mascherano’s face, than Martin Taylor who broke Eduardo’s leg. [...]

    Madhur,
Missing a drug test is regarded as “automatically failing” in athletics, and I think the football world was applying the same idea to Rio.

Of course, they won’t come out and codify that properly in a rule and then apply it consistently, because that just isn’t how the FA works. But if they did, I’d support it.

As for Taylor, it’s obviously daft that he’ll serve a shorter ban than Aliadiere, though I suppose the question is how long should he serve.

I’ve just watched the Aliadiere sending off for the 1st time a min ago!
Is it me, or didn’t Mascherano touch his face first?
If that’s the pathetic case, then don’t both of these have to serve bans?

    Absolute joke!

7chp ur reply is amusing lol.
football is getting ridiculous these days, it seems like everyone seems to prefer defending the actions of a moron rather than to punish him for his wrongdoing.
taylor commits a ridiculous so-called “tackle” (more like a ankle-breaking lunge) but the press instead focuses on arsene’s so called harsh comments about martin taylor and william gallas’ crying after the match.
the FA is really pissing me off with all these retarded 3-match bans for such a serious offense.
and i didnt know u can get match-banned from appealing =_=

  14. on February 27th, 2008 at 3:51 pm

When you compare the two incidents, it’s ridiculous that Aliadiere will be banned for longer than Taylor. Taylor’s challenge was not malicious I don’t think just mistimed and unfortunately these horrific injuries do occur from time to time but Aliadiere’s was a joke. It was nothing and many players have got away with worse in the past. I, too, was unaware of this rule that you can be banned for an extra game if the appeal is deemed ‘frivolous’ - is this a new rule??

Ask yourself this question: “what if Rooney slapped a player, how many games would he be banned for ?”

Meanwhile, in related news - do you believe that serious emotional distress is funny? Are you a cunt? Do you not have even a shred of basic human decency and empathy in your body?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then good news! Whoateallthepies shares your views!

I’m not happy with Gallas, but I can at least understand what he felt. It’s probably similar to what lots of Arsenal fans felt at the end of that game. Shattered, upset, and angry. Only more so, because he was there. It’s not good, but it’s not ‘unbelievable’, and it’s certainly not funny.
